Phew! That was a lot of work, but now the payback starts - for both you and your students. You have a stable, easily updated body of materials which will allow your students to complete the work using their preferred learning style and at a pace that is appropriate for them. You get more achievements and they increase their output.
So, how does this work? Well, open the first classwork (from the tasks you created as .RTFs) and ensure that the first line is blank - but you can change it to a very small font size if that helps. That blank line will be where the system puts the cursor when the document first opens. At the top of your RTF document you have the name of the unit - highlight it by dragging across it with the left mouse button held down and then click on the button that allows you to link to a web site. You should have something like this :-
Note that if you are using Word 2007 or 2010 you will have to click on the
Insert tab (1) and then the
Hyperlink button (2). If you are using a proper word processor, such as LibreOffice, then all you need is the
Hyperlink button.
Now open your Evernote note for this criterion. You will need the short code for your YouTube video, so highlight that by dragging across it with the left mouse button held down and then copy it (either
Edit -> Copy or
Ctrl+C) as in the screen shot below.
You will have linked the unit title to the video on the unit at the end of this process. This means that your students can click the link to see what this unit is about. So you should have something like :-
You can then repeat this process for the criterion. Highlight the unit name and criterion (UNIT 14 - P1 in the example above) and link that to the video on P1 that you created. This would then explain what the P1 criterion covers.
Finally, go down to the section of the classwork where you ask them to perform tasks. Each item is a separate atom and you can link the name of the item to your video on that topic. If you do this for each item you have coursework that can be completed at any time (with you giving a one-to-one lecture). The materials then appear at the point where the student is completing that subject matter. They can view the video as often as is necessary, making the experience far more personal. You have personalised their learning - a key objective of all inspectors, both internal and external.
